adidas is a historic, benchmark sports equipment and sneaker manufacturer with a multitude of iconic models in its catalog. One of these is the Campus, a naturally retro silhouette that the 3-stripes brand actively maintains in order to preserve its timelessness. The Campus is one of those iconic shoes that adidas completed in the 1960s-70s. More precisely, it is the fourth and final star sneaker of a glorious decade of designs that began in 1964 with the Robert Haillet, better known today as the Stan Smith.
It is also aone of the classic sneakers of the German firm and its division adidas Originalsdivision, embodied by its famous clover, which includes all models with a vocation lifestyle models. Like the Stan Smith, the Campus was originally designed for athletes, with a multi-sport focus. When it was officially released in 1970, it was called "The Tournament". Then, in the very early 1980s, its design and technical specifications inspired by both the Superstar and the Gazelle won over the street and sneaker addicts of the time, prompting the brand to give it a more marketing-friendly name. The adidas Campus as we know it today was born.
The ex-The Tournament is one of the must-have sneakers of the adidas Originals division. It is characterized by a retro aesthetic embodied by a sober and pure design that can be adapted endlessly in colors ranging from the most classic to the most original. This one is traditionally articulated arounda low suede upper with the adidas 3 stripes on each side panel and a rubber sole. As simple as it is effective, this easy-to-pair design continues to inspire famous artists, like Bad Bunny, who in his collaboration with the manufacturer has truly resurrected the silhouette. His Campus Light is still very popular, as is the Campus 80s Towelie, which is obviously South Park themed.
